A new laptop!

Finally! We invested in a new laptop and, once again, life is GOOD! We got a Toshiba Satellite A505 and we're loving it! It's rated #5 in consumer reports, and it has not disappointed thus far. You know the saying, "You don't know what you've got till it's gone?" Well, the best thing about having a new laptop is simiply the ability to move from room to room/chair to chair without having to plug in/unplug and restart the computer every time. It's the simple things..... :)

In other news, I'll be 24 weeks pregnant tomorrow and I am totally feeling it. I feel like I should be 34 weeks some days. I've gotten much more uncomfortable with this baby early on. I had a MW appointment 2 days ago and my uterus is measuring 3 weeks ahead! I am really hoping that I will not have another big baby. 7-8 pounds would be alright. But please, not another 9 pounder! I need to get some red raspberry leaf tea and get my uterus prepared. I really think that is what contributed to my quick labor with Logan. But even if it didn't, I like the taste and it doesn't do any harm. Sooo, why not?

We're still trying to name the baby, but more to come on that later! Have a great week everyone! And try to stay cool out there, it's been a scorcher!

Back with BIG news!

So I've been having computer issues lately-BLAH! My power cord is shot and my computer turns itself off at will. My laptop also does not recognize that there is a battery in it and does not charge, which means, I'm stuck with a powercord 24/7. Okay, computers wear out you say.....but in 1.5 years?? I got this computer in the summer of 2008. By the summer of 2009...just after the 1 year warranty had expired...the battery stopped charging and the power cord wore out. I have now had this laptop for almost 2 years and I am on power cord #3. I could use a new battery as well, but the price of those things is super high! I may or may not buy one, but I am getting a new laptop soon regardless. Also, the left-click button is broken. I can click, but the button does not spring back and I sometimes have to hit the button several times to click on something. Sooooo.....this has made regular postings difficult! But all will be fixed soon with a trip to Best Buy!

Since it's been so long, we now know the gender of our pumpkin seed! We are having another, yes, ANOTHER BOY! I have to admit that, after 2 boys, I was hoping for a girl, but I've had a few weeks to let the information sink in and I'm getting excited about having another son, and another brother for Micah and Logan. I think they'll do great things together. Now that we know that this baby is, indeed, another boy, the question I hear ALL the time is, "Will you try again for a girl?". And the answer is, YES! Our first child was a girl and I can't take it to my grave that I was supposed to have a daughter, but never did. I NEED to have a daughter. Now, if #4 is a boy again, we may reevaluate our feelings....or rather my feelings as Mat is ready to be done now. But we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

And Intelligender says.....

It's A...
I took one of these Intelligender tests with my last pregnancy and it was right! Now, don't get me wrong, I would never paint the nursery based on Intelligender results, but it is fun to do. I still think my odds are 50/50 either way, but it was neat. You have to be at least 10 weeks pregnant, and you just use first morning urine, add it to the cup and see what color it changes. There are crystals in the cup and they react with the urine and change color according to what the test senses and thinks that you are having. If it turns green, you are supposed to be having a boy. If it turns orange, a girl is in your future. I wasn't entirely sure which side mine matched since it didn't appear truly green OR orange, so I emailed a picture to Intelligender and this is the response that I got from them the next day:

Based on this picture this is a boy result!

Congratulations and please let us know when you confirm!

The Moms of IntelliGender

So we'll see! Just 7 weeks to go and we'll know if it's a boy or a girl! I have my second prenatal appointment with my MW tomorrow. I'll be 1 days shy of 11 weeks.

A distant place.

I'm 10 weeks pregnant today. The heart is still beating strong (thank goodness for dopplers) and I'm starting to feel a little bit better. My appetite has decreased which is good, but I haven't had much energy. I am tired. From about noon to 4pm I just want to crash. So during naptime the other day I started looking online for some close ultrasound places that will do an elective ultrasound and tell you the sex of your baby after 14 weeks. And I found one! It's a 2 hour drive from here and costs $95, but I could potentially find out if this baby is a boy or a girl in a little more than 4 weeks! I already have a medical ultrasound scheduled with the university hospital set for 8 weeks from today, but finding out 4 weeks sooner sure is tempting! If it wasn't such a long drive, I would totally do it. But, I suppose I should try to hold out the extra 4 weeks. Sigh.

9 more weeks

Only 9 more weeks until our big ultrasound! I am so excited I can hardly wait. Of course I am hoping for a girl since I already have 2 boys, but I would be happy about have 3 little boys just the same. Plus, I already have a boy name picked out that I am really liking. And no girl name as of yet. So either way, it's a win-win. I usually wait until I know the gender though before I start looking at names seriously though so I can narrow the choices by half.

Micah and my mom both think that this baby will be a girl. Everyone else thinks it will be another boy, including myself. I have been right in guessing the gender with all 3 of my kids. And soon we'll know if my intuition is serving me right yet again!

SWOM and social networking

Who doesn't love social networking? You can find almost anyone on Facebook and it's easy to communicate with people from all parts of the world from the comfort of your home computer. Then Twitter came along and once again, you can type out a short message and reach literally thousands of people in seconds. Social networking sites are expanding to meet the needs of different sects of people as well. SWOM is a site that I've recently run across that is a social networking site for marketers. SWOM is a diverse social networking community with an array of opportunities and information. Check it out if you get the chance.

My first prenatal appointment

I saw my MW (midwife) for the first time yesterday. It was a great appointment. I was there for over 2 hours, but had to wait about 20 minutes between my appointment and ultrasound. Yep, I got to see my little pumpkin seed again! He/she had a great heartbeat, 158 BPM! And measured 7w5d...giving me an EDD of 10/14/10. MW talked of inducing when I turn 39 weeks to avoid another supersize baby. I thought that was funny to talk about at the first visit, but I do not want to be induced, so hopefully that won't even be an issue. My first baby was 2 weeks early and weighed 6lbs 8oz. My second was 1 week early and weighed 9lbs 10oz. Both came on their own. I got my blood drawn which wasn't bad at all. And had the regular pap, and general health exam. I got a big first visit goodie bag and scheduled my next appointment in 3 weeks on 3/24/10. I'll be almost 11 weeks then. And the BIG NEWS!! The nurse called me at 8:01 this morning and told me that they already scheduled my ultrasound at the university hospital for May 13th! I'll be 18 weeks exactly and, if baby cooperates, should be able to find out if it is a he or a she! I am really excited to have a date to look forward to! The countdown is on!

There's an advantage to being sick

I don't go to the doctor unless I am REALLY sick. And this week, I have been REALLY sick. So I made an appointment with my regular doctor on Tuesday, 2/24. He diagnosed me with strep throat and prescribed some Amoxicilin. But I also mentioned the pain I've been having on my lower left side and he thought I might have an ectopic pregnancy where the baby implanted either in my ovary or in my tube. So they took my blood to see what my hcg was and told me they would call me with the results. I got a call about an hour later from a nurse who says, "We got the results of your bloodwork and Dr. N is ordering a STAT ultrasound for 1:00 today." So, 45 minutes later I go to ultrasound and, long story short, I saw a precious little baby with the most delicate little heart beating away at 130 beats per minute. The ultrasound dated the pregnancy at 6w4d which would give me an estimated due date of October 16, 2010. I'll have to wait until I see my midwife on Tuesday though to make it official. But it sounds like a good day to me! I'm still sick, but I've been on amoxicilian for a couple of days now and I'm starting to feel better.

An apple a day...

I have been having major fruit cravings with this pregnancy so far, but with the amount of fruit my 2 toddlers eat, not much has been left for me. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about pineapple, peaches, pears, mmmm, anything! I'm glad that I have some signs of pregnancy because I am worried sick until I hear or see a heartbeat to reassure me that everything is okay. My first appointment is in 6 days and I am definitely counting down until it gets here. Hopefully my MW (midwife) will be able to give me some reassurance.

And, as luck would have it, I am sick! Really sick! My throat hurts like crazy, my body aches, and I'm completely exhausted. Not to mention the cramps that I'm having (yep, another thing that worries me). So, all in all, I feel pretty miserable. Blah!

Aww, my first post!

Hello, hello! My name is Jenna and I'm a 24-year old stay at home mom to my 2 boys, Micah (3) and Logan (1). I'm also pregnant with our 3rd child, due October 2010. I married my husband, Mat, August 18, 2007 and we stay very busy bringing up our boys and working on random projects in our house. I like to play the piano, do crafts with my kiddos, watch movies and reality tv shows, Facebook, and I'm trying to learn to like to cook. This blog will be filled with my adventures in motherhood, pictures of my lovely boys, and lots more fun stuff! So stay tuned!
